Rihanna Dressed As The Pope to Met Gala 2018

This year’s Met Gala theme is overtly religious in nature. Dominating fans attention on Monday night was none other than the Pope and Jesus Christ – or in this case Rihanna and Jared Leto – at the gala which was themed this year as Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

And two stars proved to be the most heavenly bodies at the star-studded Catholic-themed bash in New York – and Twitter took notice.

Fans went wild over RiRi’s choice in attire, declaring her their personal Pope. One fan wrote: ‘I believe in a God now. Her name is Rihanna. She can have my wig and my life if she so chooses.’

Many simply wrote, ‘the Pope has arrived’, as images popped up online of her; others wrote of the pop star, ‘All hail Rihanna’.

While Leto got the popular vote on Twitter as the ‘officially best dressed male at the Met Gala.’ With many even declaring, ‘Jesus has resurrected and you can’t tell me otherwise.’

The Bajan beauty arrived to the annual fashion party dressed in a dazzling take on the classic uniform worn by The Bishop of Rome.

The 30-year-old singer donned a head-piece reminiscent of the holy office and a gleaming dress designed by Maison Margiela.

While Leto, 46, paid homage to many of his fans who believe he looks like the Prince of Peace. The singer and actor’s outfit was compliments of Gucci.

In fact, a viral joke meme has spread recently throughout the internet comparing the 30 Seconds to Mars singer to Jesus Christ, due to his likeness to popular American versions of the Christian savior.

However, not everyone was a fan as some compared the Oscar winning actor to the Burger King mascot.

Later in the evening he posed with Alessandro Michelea and Lana Del Rey who were similarly attired in religious garb leading fans to declare them ‘the holy trinity’.

Always the hottest ticket in New York, this year the gala takes on a religious theme: Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

With a dress code of Sunday Best, the red carpet is bound to be memorable.

The annual gala is always tied to an exhibit at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Rihanna along with Amal Clooney and Donatella Versace joined Vogue editor Anna Wintour in chairing this year’s star-studded Met Gala.
